WHY NOW? BECAUSE ELTON JOHN AND EMINEM DIDN'T KNOW EACH OTHER AT THAT POINT, AND ELTON PUT HIS CREDIBILITY ON THE LINE ..JUST BASED ON WHAT HE HEARD FROM EMINEM'S ART. it was a great performance and an even greater symbol . Many felt offended and didn't understand that ELTON could share the scene with someone who was accused at the time of homophobia. But artists have a different level of consciousness.
Elton had seen something in em's music behind explicit lyrics .ART has no location, or social class....and they're still friends today.
