Basic Instinct is a 1992 neo-noir erotic thriller film directed by Paul Verhoevenand written by Joe Eszterhas, and starring Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas. The starts with a police detective, Nick Curran, who is investigating the brutal murder of a wealthy rock star. During the investigation Curran starts a dangerous and intense relationship with a suspect, an enigmatic writer named Catherine Tramell .. Interesting to know that Catherine and Nick characters were based on real people.
Catherine Tramell is the main antagonist in the film. She’s a mix between the classic femme fatale and the new psycho killers, one of the most evil characters ever created, on Hannibal Lecter's level". She has a particularly complex personality. At the same time soft and twisted. Openly bisexual, she collects brief adventures with people of both sexes and has a risk addiction. Sexy platinum blonde with a slim figure, she wears clothes with a dominant white, (Tramell is the only character who over and over again wears white, the traditional symbol of purity). externally, she is only sweetness except her heavy eyes.

ESZTERHAS, the scenarist quit the project and came back later on Because Michael Douglas wanted the movie to end with him shooting and killing her to show the redemption. Sharon Stone is an American actress who was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania. After modelling in television commercials and print advertisements,. she found mainstream prominence with her part in Paul Verhoeven's action film Total Recall (1990). Then took on the role that made her a star, Catherine Tramell. Several actresses at the time turned down the role, mostly because of the nudity required.
Nobody could have played the role better than her because she knows exactly what is to be an attractive, smart woman in a man’s world. Sharon have many similarities with Catherine and the same ability to manipulate mens. We can see it by the way she claimed she'd been misled to film the scene (not knowing we would see her intimate part) something the director denies “ there was really no way he could have filmed what he did without her fully understanding what his intentions were.” OR when Verhoeven had her come in to dub lines for an airplane version of Total Recall, so she wore a tight Catherine-esque dress to demonstrate to Verhoeven that she could play the maneater part, without asking for it.. By the time the director was looking for an actress. Of course she propose her the role, thinking he made a great discovery by himself.
Funny to know that for the first part of her career Sharon stone couldn't get a job because no one thought she was sexy.
